All I can say is WHOA!!! Being from Fla and a Miami Bass head from way back, I've been a fan of Marquis and Toomp since the 80's. I guess I first heard Toomp on MC Shy D's album Comin` Correct In '88. But I never knew this album even existed til today. I never knew Marquis and Toomp teamed up. So major, major props for putting me up on this one!!!

Oh shit! Can I get a copy of Mr. Big Dick? I wrote Toomp's rhymes, and I haven't heard that song in years. Btw, I'm Tony MF Rock.

Here`s an album I`m sure some folks out there don`t have, it`s a bit on the rare side or so I have been told. Brother Marquis of 2 Live Crew fame & DJ Toomp of Poison Clan fame made up 2 Nazty & they dropped their only album titled "Indecent Exposure" back in 1993 on Attitude Records. It`s safe to say that fans of Miami Bass or the 2 Live Crew vibe will definitely DiG this joint. With thumpin` beats & raunchy lyrics how could ya go wrong? After all their name`s 2 Nazty what did you expect? Some lyrical murderin`? Some scientific raps??.....LoL, C`mon now just look at some of the songs` titles; "Pussy Whipped", "Mr. Big Dick" & "Be My Bitch". That should give ya an idea on just what to expect with this album...

The only song on this album that really stands out like a swollen hitch~hiker`s thumb is the single "Can`t Say I Love You", they even released a music video for this track. It`s not a bad song, it just doesn`t really fit in with the rest of the album`s vibe. It has one of those early slow 1990`s R&B love song vibes to it even if it is the opposite of an 'I love you' song if that makes any sense to y`all. Aside from that lil` hiccup though the rest of the album`s a decent listen on some good speakers `cuz them beats definitely BuMP like pimples on the face of a teenager fresh into puberty...

Brother Marquis gets most of the lime light on the album, but DJ Toomp gets 2 instrumental tracks to show off his skills on "Sex Fien`" & "Toomp`s Jam". Something interesting to note is that this album was done a lil` while after 2 Live Crew disbanded, that`s why you hear Brother Marquis state that he was 'fired' from the group because 'they didn`t have love for him' on the "Interview" intro. It`s also probably why it sounds like 2 Nazty`s goin` at Luke on "Be My Bitch". I wonder if Luke ever retaliated? Anyway standout joints for me are; "Don`t Stop", "Pussy Whipped", "Mr. Big Dick", "Somebody Say Ho" & the previously mentioned "Be My Bitch". It`s a decent listen, so go `head & check out the album for ya`self...

ARaBiaN PRiNCe`s "WHeRe`s My ByTCHeS?"...

What`s happenin` y`all? Hope all is well & Life is treatin` ya good. Today I have another album from Arabian Prince courtesy of the home G~NuT who seen my "Brother Arab" album post & told me that I needed to hear (& share with the blog) the Arabian Prince`s 1993 album titled "Where`s My Bytches?" So BiG props goes out to him, your suggestion & link were very much appreciated. Now let`s get to the music shall we???

For those of you who couldn`t really get into the Electro~Funk~Party vibe of his "Brother Arab" album then this joint should be a lil` more to your liking. It`s definitely more of a Rap album, sure the topics may be a lil` on the repetitive side but it has way more rappin` on it & the beats fall more into the Hip Hop arena. This is actually his second album after "Brother Arab", he had put together a follow up album titled "The Underworld" but EMI shelved it because it was a lil` more on the dark side when compared to "Brother Arab" so instead of taking a risk they got scared & decided not to release it. Here`s what he said about the unreleased album during a lil` interview with HipHopDX.com back in 2008 (peep the rest of the interview here)...

"After N.W.A., I put an album on EMI/Orpheus, the "Brother Arab" album, which had "She`s Got A Big Posse", and stuff like that. It was more party music still uptempo, more club uptempo, not Electro uptempo. Then, after that, I did another album for EMI, called "The Underworld", which was more dark. My sound has always been a dark sound anyway. They were kinda scared of it. It got four or five stars, but they never released it, `cause they were scared. Its still sitting on DAT`s. One day I`m gonna drop that out"...

I`m kind of curious about that unreleased joint, it`ll probably make for an interesting listen but let`s get back to this "Where`s My Bytches?" album. Now I`m sure some of y`all are saying that the Arabian Prince decided to get all 'Gangsta Pimpish' on this joint because he was trying to capitalize off of the whole N.W.A. controversy since his first album after leaving the group didn`t do so well sales~wise, but that`s not the case. Well according to the Arabian Prince the content of the album was very much influenced by a girl that he was dating at the time, here`s what he said about the album (from the previously mentioned interview)...

" I did "Where`s My Bytches?" which was all sexist stuff. I had been in this relationship, man, and this girl pissed me off right in the middle of my album. I was like, Aw man, you gonna piss me off? Here, let me dedicate this to you! [Laughs] but it was still good music though..."

Maybe the chick that was the album`s inspiration is the one on the back cover.....LoL, only the Arabian Prince knows for sure. Anyways if you can look beyond the repetitive topics of sex, bitches & pimpin` the album`s not too shabby at all. What really stands out the most in my opinion is the beats that back up the Prince`s less than stellar lyrics, they really get your speakers thumpin` that`s for sure. So go `head & give it a listen...

ARaBiaN PRiNCe`s "BRoTHeR ARaB"...

Goin` back to 1989 with this post for y`all. I was fortunate (or unfortunate depending on how ya look at things) to grab this CD for a mere $3 at a good ol` pawn shop a few weeks ago. The album that I am talkin` about comes from N.W.A.`s black sheep the Arabian Prince & is titled "Brother Arab", it`s his first solo album after leaving N.W.A. Some may not know but he is an original member of N.W.A. & is featured on the album cover (between DJ Yella & Ice Cube) of their "Straight Outta Compton" album. His only feature on that album is "Somethin` 2 Dance 2", which is also the only Electro-Funk styled track. Many fans consider the song to be the weakest track on the entire album, but to each his own. Anyways I don`t know much about him, but I shall share with ya what I do know about the Arabian Prince...

He was raised in Inglewood, California & was first introduced to music production when he visited his father at the local Funk & Soul radio station KACE. As a young buck while still in high school he would make mixtapes that he did while visiting his dad at the radio station. From there he started DJing high school events around Gardena & eventually he went from the schools to the clubs in L.A., gaining some notoriety in the local Electro & Hip Hop scene. He first started out on the Electro tip which was big in L.A. at the time & ended up joining Uncle Jamms Army, a mad famous crew known for their party appearances. Then around 1983-84 he met up with Russ Parr a.k.a. Bobby Jimmy & he later joined him as part of Bobby Jimmy & The Critters...

For those that aren`t up on Bobby Jimmy he was basically doing the same thing as Weird Al Yankovic with the parodies of more famous songs. After working with Bobby Jimmy on the production tip for a few years he was able to release a couple singles ("Strange Life" & "It Ain`t Tough") of his own thru Russ Parr`s Rapsur Records label. While workin` the Electro scene with Bobby J & The Critters Arabian Prince eventually started to become friends with Dr. Dre who was also workin` the scene with the World Class Wreckin` Cru. As time progressed both groups` lime light started to fade, but the two stayed in contact with each. That`s when Dr. Dre started talking to the Arabian Prince about a Rap group that he & former drug dealer Eazy-E were in the midst of starting. The group would later be known as the now famous N.W.A. & once Dr. Dre & DJ Yella left the World Class Wreckin` Cru things really started getting serious for the new group, Prince joined shortly after...

Then I believe that it was in 1987, Dre & Eazy-E gathered up a bunch of their homies for the compilation album titled "N.W.A. & The Posse". It featured such artists as the Fila Fresh Crew (Doc T a.k.a. D.O.C., Fresh K & Dr. Rock), Ron-De-Vu, Rappinstine, Eazy-E & of course N.W.A. The compilation itself was used to help create a buzz for N.W.A. & it did so with such singles as "Boyz-N-The-Hood", "8 Ball", "Dopeman" & "Panic Zone" (even though it`s credited as N.W.A. it`s more of a Arabian Prince solo cut). Something to note about "Panic Zone", it was apparently co~written by Krazy Dee (a Mexican rapper), he originally had the song titled "Hispanic Zone" but  Dr. Dre switched it up to "Panic Zone" because he felt that having 'Hispanic' in it`s title would have them lose out on sales...

Shortly after the release of the compilation in 1988 N.W.A. released the grand~daddy of all 'Gangsta Rap' albums, "Straight Outta Compton" & with the group`s growing popularity Eazy-E picked up Jerry Heller to help coordinate the group`s future plans. Arabian Prince however left the group just a few weeks before "Straight Outta Compton" was released due to management problems. Soon after going solo, Arabian started to work on the album titled "Brother Arab", released in 1989 through Orpheus Records. Compared to his former group`s album "Brother Arab" was much more on the party tip with it`s Electro~Rap & Funk samples...

With that lil` run~down that brings us to the album that I copped for a whole $3, "Brother Arab". I  believe that this version is actually the clean version of the album,  I say this because on "It`s Time To Bone" there`s a record scratch where Arabian Prince would`ve said 'shit'.....LoL, aside from that though I didn`t really notice much else. Still I would like to hear the unedited version of the album, so if anyone has it hook a homie up! Anyways go had & check it out, "She`s Got A Big Posse" & "Situation Critical" are my favorite tracks on here. While "Sound Check" features the same sample that Above The Law would later use for the track "Menace To Society", just a lil` somethin` interesting to note...
